On 27 September 2025, in the very heart of the ruins of the former Victoria Theatre in Gliwice – a space profoundly marked by time and history – an opera will resound, posing questions about patience, loyalty, and love above all else. Griselda by Alessandro Scarlatti is a musical narrative of a woman subjected to trial; a story of maturing within a love that is neither simple nor ideal. It is a drama of human relationships – always demanding, often painful, at times impossible – and of the endeavour to comprehend them and to experience them with dignity. The premiere of this opera will constitute the central event of the 18th edition of the All’Improvviso Festival.
This Griselda is not conceived as a reconstruction of a Baroque work. Rather, it seeks to discover a contemporary register for emotions that have remained unchanged through the centuries. It will become a theatrical dialogue about dignity in silence, about the forces that sustain human existence, and about the lights and shadows of love.
